Bites Nearby: Hibachi Express

This new St. Charles restaurant serves tasty and convenient food, at a price point for any budget.

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

Overview: Hibachi Express celebrated their grand opening on March 15. The restaurant has simple menu of quickly-prepared entrees and combination specials, but it is not your average fast food. Hibachi's flavors are full of color, and the portions are generous. The drive0through service gives them a convenience factor that sets them apart from the competition.

Decor: The restaurants seating area is bright and somewhat airy. Walls are painted a festive shade of gold, and there are small Asian style decorations placed throughout.

The Drinks: When dining indoors, soft drinks ($1.50) are self service.

Appetizers: Choices are limited, but much more than you would expect from this type of restaurant. Steamed Edamame ($3.50) is a healthy snack, or start to a meal. The Pot Stickers ($4.25) are worth a try, and are soft and surprisingly large.

Entrees: All entrees come with white or fried rice, and served with a side of sauteed onions and zucchini. Hibachi Steak ($9.25) is prepared with tender pieces of beef in a house sauce. The Teriyaki Chicken ($8.25) uses a sweet glaze over chicken pieces, and compliments the side of vegetables well. Express Bowls ($5.95-$6.25) come with white or fried rice, and there is an option to add a vegetable or soft drink for $1.

Sides: Side orders of rice ($2.00), vegetables ($3.00), and noodles ($3.00) are available. They also have salad options with Chicken ($4.75), Shrimp ($5.25), and a house salad ($2.49).

Service: The staff is very friendly; orders are taken via counter or drive through service.
