Pottawatomie Park and Ferson Creek Park offer the best viewing for spectators.

A fireworks display is planned for the evening of July 4th in St. Charles in observation of Independence Day, with and Ferson Creek Park as the best viewing areas for spectators.

Pottawatomie Park will open at 8 a.m. on July 4, and picnic tables will be available first-come, first-served. Those wishing to celebrate the holiday at the park should bring their own tables, blankets and lawn chairs. The concession stand at will also be open until 9:15 p.m. July 4.

The River View Miniature Golf will open for play at 9 a.m. July 4, with the last tee-off at 7 p.m. and Swanson Pool will open at noon for residents and season pass holders and at 12:30 p.m. for non-residents and will close at 6 p.m.

Also on July 4 at the park’s amphitheater, the Fox Valley Concert Band will perform 4 to 5:30 p.m. A local band, Red Woody, will perform from 6 p.m. to dark at the park’s pavilion. The band will play classic rock ’n’ roll, contemporary favorites and alternative hits.

The St. Charles Park District offers the following advice to those attending the fireworks display:

• Spectators are encouraged to park downtown and walk to Pottawatomie Park.
• Please do not activate car alarms; they are often set off by fireworks.
• Those attending are asked to wait until the fireworks are complete before leaving the grounds—vehicle headlights often distract other viewers.
• Alcoholic beverages are prohibited at park property at all times.
• All fireworks, including sparklers, are prohibited in the park.
• No canoe or pedal boat rentals will be offered on July 4 at River View Miniature Golf.
• The Boy Scout Island boat launch will be closed on July 4.
• Those needing emergency assistance should go to the park’s main gate or Swanson Pool during the day and the main entrance of River View Miniature Golf Course in the evening.

Fireworks sponsors include the St. Charles Park District, City of St. Charles, First State Bank and the St. Charles Breakfast Rotary. In the event of inclement weather, the fireworks display will be rescheduled for the next clear evening.
