Kane County Election Complaint Line Open Nov. 6

State’s attorney’s office to field complaints at hot line: 1-630-208-5328.

Kane County voters who observe or experience voting problems or irregularities during the General Election should call the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office to report the problems.

The Election Complaint Line will be available from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nov. 6, 2012.

Anyone who experiences or witnesses any possible illegal election activity, such as electioneering, illegally placed campaign signs or denial of voting rights at any of Kane County’s 228 voting precincts should call the hot line at 1-630-208-5328.

The hot line will be staffed by representatives of the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office. Assistant state’s attorneys will take the complaints about potential violations of Illinois election laws and are prepared to travel to polling places to ensure compliance with state election laws.

“Voters have a right to expect an honest, fair and orderly election, and a fair opportunity to choose their elected leaders,” Kane County State’s Attorney Joe McMahon said. “Our staff will be available to all who have concerns.

“In the years that we have had this complaint line, we have found no notable violations of election laws. We expect that to remain the case Nov. 6 in what has been an emotional campaign season.”

Voters should note that this hotline is not for election questions, such as polling times and places. Voters in need of election information should call the Kane County Clerk’s Election Help Line at 1-630-232-5990. Eligible voters must be registered, a United States citizen and at least 18 years old.

They do nothing. In the last presidential election in Elgin they didnt let people in to vote who had been inline for an hour before the 7pm cut off time. They were to allow all inline to vote . The polls were dem controled and most inline were McCain supporters. They also had dem campaign signs less then 50 feet from the polling building. I called 6 times and no one ever showed up and numbers were very skewed in the city.
