Kane Regional Office of Education Asks Citizens to Help Lobby for State Funds

Office sends Support the ROE e-mail.

The Kane County Regional Office of Education is reaching out to citizens in hopes of convincing Gov. Pat Quinn and the state Legislature to restore funding for the office whose superintendents haven't seen a paycheck since June 30.

In an e-blast headlined "ROE Needs Your Help Now," the office is asking voters to visit Support the ROE and click a link to send an automated message to state legislators.

"Even though they have not been paid since June, the superintendents have continued to work and the Kane County ROE has continued to provide services to all customers including teacher certification, professional development, GED testing and reporting, and building inspections," the e-mail said.

The Legislature starts the fall veto session on Oct. 25.

"We need our legislators to restore funding for the Regional and Assistant Superintendents," the e-mail says. "It only takes a couple of minutes to complete and will ensure the ROE can continue to provide services for the children of Kane County."

Kane's regional superintendent is Douglas Johnson.

The e-mail suggests visiting the Kane County ROE website and review its annual report.

I am missing something here? The state eliminated their funding, thus they lost their jobs. They continue to enter a building and incur utility bills where they have no right to be. Isn't that called trespassing? Are these guys asking that every state funded agency that has lost their funding have it restored? Don't you realize that your employer is 13 billion dollars in debt and is 6 months behind in paying their bills. Sorry to be so blunt but pick up a newspaper, we are in the biggest recession in more than 80 years. People are losing their jobs every day and don't hang around for 6 months. Guys, you have lost your job, just like millions of other Americans. Your job was never guaranteed and you need to face reality. I am sorry that this happened to you but please move on and join the other 9.3% of the population that is unemployed. Turn out the lights, lock the door and mail your keys to Springfield.
