Patch Helps Family Get Back Its Video of Disney Trip

The Bosco family of Woodridge lost their Sony Camcorder one week ago during Scarecrow Fest. Less than 4 hours after Patch posted a story about the loss, they received a call ...

If a picture is worth a thousand words, imagine the expressions on the faces of a Woodridge couple who tonight learned their lost videos of a Disney World trip with their two young children will be returned.

Joe and Gina Bosco lost the Sony Camcorder on Sunday, Oct. 7, while enjoying their annual trip to downtown St. Charles for Scarecrow Fest. Just two or three weeks before, they had taken the device on a trip to Disney World, but Joe said he never backed up the video on a computer.

The loss was heartbreaking — and they asked St. Charles Patch to help, if only to get back the camera’s memory card — with their memories of the trip. “The memory card is the most important thing,” Bosco said Sunday, shortly before St. Charles Patch posted the story at 7:28 p.m. It “is very important to us for the memories of our children.”

The video they’d shot of their family fun was far more precious than the camcorder.

At 11:16 p.m., the Bosco family shared the good news with St. Charles Patch.

“A man named Brian called me just now and said he has the camera! He said he saw the post on THE PATCH and called me right away,” Joe wrote in an email. “Thank you so much for helping us. … My wife and I are so happy, relieved and grateful for your help! We truly cannot express our gratitude enough.”

Joe said he will meet with the camera’s finder on Monday when he picked it up, saying he wants to share more about this man and “his good hearted action of returning the camera with you and I would love to share how helpful The Patch and yourself were to my family!!”

Glad to help, Joe! This goes hand in hand with Patch’s goal to make people’s lives ridiculously easy.

It’s also good to know there are people like Brian out there who do the right thing.

We need more of that in this day and age.
