Local Restaurant Offers to Match Salvation Army Donations in Wake of Kettle Theft

While police continue to investigate Dec. 7 incident, Colonial will match donations to help recoup stolen money, the Daily Herald reports.

St. Charles police said a man claiming to be a Salvation Army worker took a kettle full of donations from a bell-ringing stand at the Jewel-Osco on Prairie Street last week, according to the Kane County Chronicle.

In a Daily Herald story published Wednesday, the newspaper reported the owners of and Ice Cream have agreed to match all donations made in St. Charles on Saturday in an effort to recoup the approximately $400 taken in the theft.

The suspect is described as a 40-year-old white male who stands about 5 feet 9 inches tall.
