Mathew Shane Huffman, a St. Charles North High School grad who worked as an assistant lacrosse coach for the combined St. Charles North and St. Charles East teams, died Friday after a skateboarding accident in which he suffered a major head injury, according to the Daily Herald.

St. Charles Community Unit School District 303 said Wednesday that Student Support Team members are available to any students who need assistance.

A page set up in Huffman's honor at GoFundMe.com has raised more than $10,000. The family asks that memorials be made to the Brain Injury Association of America.

A celebration of Huffman's life is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at Hosanna! Lutheran Church, according to his obituary.
