St. Charles Police Blotter: TV Thefts, Public Fighting

St. Charles police reports, July 26-30

MONDAY, JULY 30

DUI

Angela E. Ivey, 43, Elgin, was charged at 12:49 a.m. with driving while under the influence, DUI greater than .08 and improper lane use at Route 31 and Red Gate Road. Bail was set at $3,000.

Fighting

Police cited Blake R. Griffiths, 21, of the 1000 block of Independence Avenue, and Garrett C. Ginn, 29, of the 1800 block of Wessel Court, with a local fighting prohibited ordinance violation at 1:45 a.m. on the 0 block of south 3rd Street.

Traffic Charges

Jorge Luis Cuevas-Robles, 26, of the 100 block of south 17th Street, was charged with speeding, 40 in a 25-mph zone, and no driver's license. He was released on his own recognizance and ordered to appear in court Aug. 23.

Car Burglary

Juana Velazquez-Martinez, of Elgin, reported a burglary to her vehicle at 6:38 p.m. on the 1100 block of south 7th Street. A black purse containing $1,200 and identification was taken.

SATURDAY, JULY 28

Fighting Prohibited

Police cited two Geneva residents with a local fighting prohibited ordinance violation. Ryan Thomas Fitzsimmons, 28, and Joseph Richard Neubauer, 28, were cited at 1:56 a.m. on the 300 block of west Main Street.

Telephone Threats

A St. Charles woman told police her ex-husband threatened her during a telephone call at 9:54 a.m. while she was at her home. No action was taken.

Retail Theft

Police arrested Sarah E. Mapes, 30, of Cortland, and charged her with retail theft at 4:32 p.m. at Meijer, 855 Randall Rd. The value of the assorted items was estimated at $184. Her bail was set at $1,500 and she was released pending a Sept. 6 court appearance.

FRIDAY, JULY 27

Retail Theft

A loss-prevention employee at Stein Mart, 3619 E. Main St., reported seeing two people attempting to commit retail theft by switching price tags. No value was reported, but the two people were told that they are permanently banned from the store.

Traffic Charges

Isamuel Robles-Balladares, 29, of the 100 block of south 17th Street, was charged with no driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding/too fast for conditions at 3:51 p.m. at 99 Dunham Rd. Bail was set at $2,000 and he was ordered to appear Aug. 23 in Kane County Branch Court, 530 S. Randall Rd.

Noise Complaint

A 51-year-old resident of the 200 block of Walnut Drive reported a loud stereo in a second-floor apartment. Police talked with the person in the apartment who offered to apologize to the other resident. No citation was issued.

Televisions, Sound System Stolen

Walmart, 150 Smith Rd., reported the theft of two 46-inch televisions, a 40-inch television and a surround-sound system at 9:56 p.m. Store employees told police a man loaded the items in a shopping cart, paused to send a text message and left the store without paying for the items. A store employee told police he followed the man outside and asked him for a receipt as he was loading the items into the back of a 2005 or later black Lexus sport utility vehicle. The man said the receipt was on the seat of the car, and when he entered the passenger side of the vehicle, it sped off. The items were valued at $2,500.

DUI: Drugs

Vincent Albert Isola, 19, of Cary, was arrested at 10:56 p.m. and charged with driving under the influence of drugs, improper lane use, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and resisting a peace officer on the 200 block of south Randall Road. His bail was set at $3,000 and he was ordered to appear in court Sept. 12.

THURSDAY, JULY 26

Fraud

A 52-year-old St. Charles woman reported the theft by fraud of a fashion ring with 14 diamonds totaling 1.5 carats during a transaction on Craigslist. The loss was estimated at $2,400.

Criminal Damage To Property

A 56-year-old St. Charles resident reported the spoiler was removed from the trunk lid of his 2002 Honda Accord while it was parked in the north lot of Charlestown Mall between 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. Damage was estimated at $175.

Traffic Charges

Luz A. Lopez-Silva, 21, of the 1900 block of Wessel Court, St. Charles, was charged with no valid driver's license and passing vehicle not to leave the roadway at 4:48 p.m. at 1100 Prairie St. Bail was set at $1,500 and she was ordered to appear in court Sept. 16.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 25

No Driver's License

Miguel Corona-Torres, 21, of the 300 block of 2nd Street, St. Charles, was charged with no driver's license and driving with no proof of insurance. Bail was set at $1,500 and he was ordered to appear in court Aug. 16.

Identity Theft

A 62-year-old Geneva woman reported that her mother, 94, of St. Charles, had been the victim of identity theft on April 16 when the IRS refused to accept the victim's tax return because someone already had filed a return using her Social Security number.
