Editor's Note: This list has been updated since it was first published.
You shouldn’t start your day without a good meal. And St. Charles has no shortage of places to get such a meal.
Last week, we asked who offered your favorite burger. We’ll post the results from that on Tuesday. Now, we want to know your favorite place for breakfast.
Follow St. Charles Patch on Facebook!
Now, keep in mind, when we say breakfast, we mean a place where you can sit down and have a full meal or draw from a selection of breakfast foods. We’ll have a future article asking about your favorite pastries or bakery soon enough.
Without further buildup, let the voting begin. Please choose your favorite places, whether from the list below or otherwise, to vote:
(If we missed one, please let us know and we’ll update the list. As before, just one vote/comment per reader. Note: This list is in no particular order.)
Colonial Cafe—A perennial favorite in the area. Headquartered in St. Charles, Colonial has two locations here with the newest location on Randall Road. Breakfast is served all day.
Town House Books & Cafe—The cafe side to this independent bookstore features a morning menu with a quiche of the day and the Sunday brunch offers a number of egg specialties and French toasts.
Copper Fox Cafe—As a newer option in St. Charles, this restaurant on Main Street offers a sampling of Benedicts and crepes, as well as more traditional fare for the breakfast goer.
Gabby’s Kitchen—This past year, Gabby’s pancakes were featured on Chicago's Best. Also, take a look at the “Off the Char Broiler” options if you’re looking for some serious morning protein.
prasino—Check out this corner restaurant’s list of omelets and frittatas. As with everything they do, their breakfast items are made from organic and locally-grown ingredients. Don’t forget to check out the selection of healthy juices when you stop by.
The Jalapeno Grille—In the mood for something spicy? Try one of Jalapeno Grille’s breakfast plates or, if you need something quick, a breakfast burrito.
Corfu—This Greek diner features a breakfast menu that's a long-time favorite of many. Its large green sign is easily recognizable on East Main Street.

I realize this article is "Best in St Charles" however, hands down the best breakfast in this area is the AAA Four Diamond restaurant, Atwater’s, located @ the Herrington Hotel, Geneva. Not only is Atwater's affordable it offers beautiful waterfront views. Their egg dishes and hash browns are a slice of heaven. Reservations are encouraged given the intimate size of the restaurant. Perfect spot to enjoy great conversation and you will appreciate their friendly service!

Copper Fox is the best Breakfast in the Fox Valley area. Great selection, not just eggs. Home fries like your grandmother made on the farm. Everything has a great taste.

Prasino and Town House are my favorites in terms of quality, but for a bigger/cheaper (but still good) meal I'd pick Gabby's!

Gabby's is so bad we make a comment about it everytime we pass by. The quality of food is awful!!!!! We need less bars and more good restaurants in St. Charles.
