As an engineer, I know that scientists run tests, gather data, make calculations and then publish their work for peer review. Therefore I was amazed that Argonne Laboratories made a press release concerning solar panels saving money but they will not provide any backup. Twice I asked the author of the press release for backup that would substantiate that their panel was saving $9,400 a year. Twice I was told that a staff person made the calculation but that there was no backup.

Scientists do not operate like this but management people that want to spread propaganda in order to get government grants might operate like this.
