A local art center will take center stage in the Feature Tent with “The Art of Weaving” during this weekend’s 15th annual St. Charles Fine Art Show. A proposed incentives deal to draw new jobs and new tax revenue into the city received the support of the St. Charles City Council on Monday, four months after the city’s Economic Development Department first pitched the plan at a much higher cost to the city. Instead of $250,000 in tax breaks as proposed in January, the City Council on Monday agreed to reimburse $70,000 from the 1 percent municipal sales tax the business over the next five years. So, you’re wondering, what’s new this year during the Downtown St. Charles Partnership’s 15th annual St. Charles Fine Art Show? Well, the Art Talks are one new feature of the annual Memorial Day weekend event. Visitors will be able to listen as artists discuss their inspiration for a piece, for example, or hear artists discuss the differences between a fine craft and a fine art. National average gasoline prices rose 4.9 cents per gallon over the past week and are up 6.2 cents per gallon of regular gasoline from a month ago. Meantime, Tri-Cities gas prices continued to outpace the statewide average price of a gallon of regular gasoline, which was $3.976 late Wednesday, compared to $3.977 a week ago. Paid-membership gas stations Costco in St. Charles and Sam’s Club in Batavia had the No. 1 and No. 2 lowest prices per gallon of regular gasoline in the Tri-Cities on Wednesday, according to Illinois Gas Prices. AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report showed that nationally, the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline late Wednesday was $3.588 a gallon, up slightly from $3.582 a day earlier and up from $3.539 a week ago. …

I would like to be reimbursed for the landscaping I did to improve my house, keeping up the neighbourhoods standards of making St Charles a "family oriented" area! Come on! How many breaks does a business owner get for the "job's" that allow him to profit, and thus, thrive! If no money was to be made, with a business, then why have it???
