Tri-Cities Gas Guide for May 16, 2013

Use our weekly guide to find the lowest gasoline prices in the Tri-Cities of Batavia, Geneva and St. Charles.

National average gasoline prices rose 4.9 cents per gallon over the past week and are up 6.2 cents per gallon of regular gasoline from a month ago. Meantime, Tri-Cities gas prices continued to outpace the statewide average price of a gallon of regular gasoline, which was $3.976 late Wednesday, compared to $3.977 a week ago. Paid-membership gas stations Costco in St. Charles and Sam’s Club in Batavia had the No. 1 and No. 2 lowest prices per gallon of regular gasoline in the Tri-Cities on Wednesday, according to Illinois Gas Prices. AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report showed that nationally, the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline late Wednesday was $3.588 a gallon, up slightly from $3.582 a day earlier and up from $3.539 a week ago. …

Past Award Winners Return to 15th Annual St. Charles Fine Art Show

Taylor Mazer of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Jack McLean of Johnsburg, Ill., will be among the more than 110 artists in this year’s St. Charles Fine Art Show.

This year, retuning artists — including past award-winners Taylor Mazer and Jack McLean — represent more than half of the more than 110 artists who will be presenting in the 15th annual St. Charles Fine Art Show on Memorial Day weekend. The St. Charles Fine Art Show runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 26, on Riverside Avenue (formerly 1st Avenue) between East Main Street/Route 64 and Illinois Avenue, according to a release from the Downtown St. Charles Partnership. Fermilab Proposes Neutrino Construction Project

Construction of the project would take place on the western portion of the laboratory site, close to Kirk and Giese roads in Batavia, and could begin as early as 2015.

The Department of Energy and Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory are inviting the local community to an informational meeting about the proposed Long-Baseline Neutrino Experiment.
