To celebrate Heart Health Month, Clare Oaks and the Assisi Health Care Center at Clare Oaks will host a series of heart-related screenings, as well as have experts on site to provide tips for seniors to stay heart healthy. To kick off the event, Dr. Nephtali Kogan, cardiologist from Alexian Brothers Medical Center will conduct a 20-minute presentation titled “Understanding Coronary Disease – Why Doctors Do What They Do”, with a Q&A session to follow.  After the presentation, a series of stations will be set up to conduct some basic heart screenings, as well as provide additional tips for seniors. 

Stations will include:

• Blood pressure screenings
• Pulse ox monitor to measure oxygen saturation levels
• Jane Jarrett, licensed dietician, providing heart healthy eating advice
• Tammy Holzer, wellness director for Clare Oaks for an overview of programs the community has to offer

Light refreshments will be served & the first 100 people will receive a free pedometer.
