Yoga for Depression: Emotional Well Being

321 Stevens St, Geneva, IL | Get Directions »
$35.00

Anyone who has suffered from depression understands how deep, abiding sadness can infiltrate and affect every aspect of our being. As our feelings and other symptoms of depression persist, we have an increasingly difficult time imagining a life in which we break free from their spell and avoid “becoming” them. Yoga teaches us that we are not feelings or our symptoms but live in multidimensional relationship with them.

This asana practice will include supported back bends to open the chest and lungs and supine poses to quiet and calm the mind. We will use pranayama to calm the mind and body and meditation for self-study, which offers the possibility of understanding and changing the attitudes and behaviors which may cause unhappiness.

Join senior teacher Tricia Fiske at Prana Yoga Center in Geneva for this specialized practice for those struggling with depression.

Tricia Fiske, BA, 500E-RYT, is one of the first Level II Certified ParaYoga® Instructors. Tricia has been a student of yoga since 1997, began teaching in 1999, and has been studying exclusively with ParaYoga® founder Rod Stryker since 2000. Tricia will be appearing at the Sedona Yoga Festival in February 2013.
