City of St. Charles Names Matthew O’Rourke Economic Development Division Manager

The City of St. Charles has named Matthew O’Rourke Economic Development Division Manager in the Community & Economic Development Department. O’Rourke previously served as a Planner in the Community & Economic Development Department, a position he held for six years.

Under direction of Community & Economic Development Director Rita Tungare, O’Rourke will be responsible for coordinating the City’s economic development efforts and serving as the City’s liaison to the business community.

O’Rourke’s experience with the City includes serving as staff liaison to the City's Plan Commission, Corridor Improvement and Housing Commissions, managing numerous development projects, and working on the CMAP Multi-Jurisdictional Housing Study. Before coming to St. Charles, he worked on planning and economic development initiatives for four years at the Village of Romeoville.

“We conducted a thorough and comprehensive search of candidates throughout the area,” said Tungare. “I’m confident Matt will continue the City’s efforts in working collaboratively with local organizations and the business community to enhance the economic vitality of the City and promote St. Charles as a desirable location for businesses and industries.”

O’Rourke, a St. Charles resident, holds a Masters of Urban and Regional Planning from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana; a Bachelors of Urban Planning from the University of Cincinnati in Ohio; and also has earned AICP certification.
