Electric Christmas Parade to Feature Nearly 50 Lighted Entries, Miss Illinois, and Grand Marshal - Boy Scout Troop One

ST. CHARLES, IL (November 15, 2013) St. Charles Holiday Homecoming is scheduled for Friday, November 29 and Saturday, November 30 in Downtown St. Charles. The two-day event will feature the Lighting of the Lights ceremony, Sleigh Rides, Visits with Santa, a holiday movie, and the Electric Christmas Parade, which recognizes the 100 year anniversary of St. Charles Boy Scout Troop One.

Lighting of the Lights – Friday, November 29, 5:00 PM

Lighting of the Lights sponsored by Insurance through AAA will feature music by the St. Charles East and North High School Chorales, a song by youth from Steel Beam Theatre, and Mayor Raymond Rogina will officially flip the switch to illuminate the City for the first time this season. Santa and Mrs. Claus are also scheduled to make their first visit to the 1st Street Plaza Santa House at the conclusion of the ceremony.

Electric Christmas Parade – Saturday, November 30, 5:30 PM

The Electric Christmas Parade will feature nearly fifty lighted elements from cars, to motorcycles, and floats by community businesses and non-profit organizations. The Parade features Boy Scout Troop One as this year’s Grand Marshal in honor of their 100 year anniversary. The Parade will also showcase Miss Illinois 2013, Brittany Smith, who recently competed in the Miss America competition.

Friday, November 29, 2013

·         Lighting of the Lights on the 1st Street Plaza, 5:00 PM

Saturday, November 30, 2013

·         Free Holiday Movie at the Arcada Theatre: The Polar Express, 10:30 AM

·         Free Horse-Drawn Sleigh Rides on 1st St. Plaza, 1-3:30 PM

·         Visit with Santa at the 1st Street Plaza, 1 – 4 PM

·         Electric Christmas Parade on Main Street, 5:30 PM

All Holiday Homecoming events and activities are free of charge.

 

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are still needed to assist on the day of the parade with responsibilities including Parade Pacers, Parade Marshals, and other duties. Those interested in volunteering are asked to complete and return a volunteer form at their earliest convenience. Forms are available for download at: www.downtownstcharles.org/holidays.
