Community Corner

Join a legacy of giving back, join the Junior League

Do you want to improve the lives of children in your community? Are you passionate about volunteering? Join the Junior League and become part of the legacy of women making a difference.

Junior League of Kane & DuPage Counties, Inc. (JLKD) provides outreach services to organizations and individuals in Kane, DuPage, Will and Kendall Counties. Our vision is to train volunteers to improve the lives of children at risk in the community by promoting literacy, developing self-esteem and providing positive programming.

Who are JLKD members? We are volunteers, accountants, business owners, attorneys, bankers, homemakers, teachers, stockbrokers, sales executives, real estate agents, recruiters, web designers, consultants, interior designers, nurses, and more. We are young, not-so young, married, single, moms and married-without-kids. While we come from many different walks of life and live throughout the West Chicagoland area, we share a common commitment: to improve the quality of life for children in our community.

JLKD accepts and trains new members twice a year: once in the fall, beginning in September and once in the spring, beginning in January. We are currently accepting applications for our Fall 2013 Provisional Class. Applications are due by August 17.

Interested in joining? Attend an upcoming Summer Social to meet JLKD members and learn more about the organization. We’ll enjoy light food and drinks then complete a short service project, giving you a taste of the JLKD experience. Our upcoming socials are held in members homes: August 1 in Glen Ellyn, August 3 in Geneva and August 11 in Naperville. RSVP to join@jlkd.org.
