Participants needed for Elgin’s iFest Parade Aug. 31

Organizers for the Elgin International Festival (iFest) 2013 are soliciting participants for its 2nd annual iFest parade scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31.

 

The parade line-up begins at 9:00 a.m. at Central School, 355 E. Chicago St, Elgin. The parade will proceed onto eastbound Dupage St., southbound Channing, westbound Prairie and end at Festival Park, 132 South Grove Ave. Participation is free. Applications are available on elginifest.com and are due August 16, 2013.

Following the parade, will be the opening ceremonies for iFest. Festival goers can enjoy the “One World, One Sky,” kite demonstration and art competition, learn about various countries and cultures in the KidZone, sample cuisine from around the world, check out exhibitor/business booths and much more.  There will be live music throughout the day that will culminate with a performances by ThunderRoad and Brass from the Past at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Elgin’s 2nd iFest will bring together dozens of the world’s cultures which showcase the diversity throughout the Greater Fox Valley of Northern Illinois. iFest is designed to celebrate the City’s culturally diverse and rich history through music, dance, art, education, and food. iFest is sponsored in part by City of Elgin, Waste Management, 1st Family Dental, AT&T, Elgin Community College, Elgin State Bank, and Advocate Sherman Hospital.
