St. Charles Youth Commission Challenge Grant Applications Available

St. Charles, IL (September 16, 2013) – The City of St. Charles Youth Commission is once again accepting applications for its annual “Challenge Grant” Program. Grants will be awarded to youth-designed and youth-driven projects directed toward the promotion of healthy lifestyles among young people in the community.

The Youth Commission is optimistic that among all of the slogans, posters, and activities that could be promoted, the ones that emerge from the thinking and experiences of the youth themselves have high potential for success.  That’s the reason that the Commission is setting aside money from the annual budget to make an inviting competition, a challenge, to local youth to submit a concept, an action plan, a budget, and a way to assess the impact.

Applicants, including groups from schools, churches, scouts and others, are directed to consider how they can make a difference that will impact today’s youth.  Guidelines are outlined and included in the application. Application forms are available at most school locations, the City of St. Charles Municipal Center Building, and on the city website atwww.stcharlesil.gov

Applications are due on or before December 2, 2013 at the Municipal Center.  Questions should be directed to Nancy McFarland, St. Charles Youth Commission, 630-377-7059, or May Foster, Mayor’s Office, 630-762-6908 or mfoster@stcharlesil.gov.
