Toy Collection Project With Da Vinci Academy Students

It started out as a simple idea: let’s do something for the community.  What it became was a student-led project that would make an impact beyond the walls of Da Vinci Academy.

When Mr. Frank’s middle school advisory decided to conduct a community service project, many ideas were suggested by the students.  The final decision resulted in a collaborative effort with the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program, collecting toys for children of needy families.  

The Da Vinci Academy community was invited to contribute to the project by supplying new and lightly used toys and placing them in large, festively-wrapped cardboard boxes. For four days, from December 10th through December 13th, the collection grew. The diverse assortment of children’s books, board games, dolls, and stuffed animals were then sorted by the students in preparation for the Salvation Army pick-up the week before winter break, just in time to make a difference this holiday season for the children in our community.

Mr. Frank’s advisory students would like to thank everyone for contributing to the success of this project and setting a positive example of the kindness and generosity that exists in a big way at Da Vinci Academy.
