Fireworks and Barbecue: 5 Things You Should Know for Monday, July 4

Independence Day celebrations throughout St. Charles put an emphasis on family fun, but please make sure to keep it safe.

St. Charles is celebrating all things U.S.A. today. From a classic American car show to the great American barbecue, it won't be hard to find a party somewhere in the 60174. 

1. The Fourth of July holiday will be a flurry of activity at in St. Charles. Picnic tables can be claimed on a first-come, first-serve basis, so those wishing to reserve space for the day should consider arriving at 8 a.m. when the park opens. 

The Fox Valley Concert Band will perform in the amphitheater starting at 4 p.m. Local band and crowd favorite, Red Woody, takes the stage at 6 p.m. Red Woody is known for family friendly shows and the band usually invites kids on stage to dance during performances.

The fireworks display will begin at about 9 p.m. and can be viewed from or Ferson Creek Park. The park district has requested spectators arrive early for space on the lawn.

2. Settle into a plate of all-you-can-eat Alaskan King Crab legs at Big Fish Grille in Geneva for just $45. Seafood lovers who enjoy wrestling with this spiny crustacean will definitely get their fill of food, drink and 4th of July fun.

3. Join the for an All-you-can-eat American-Style Barbecue with seatings at 5:30, 6 and 6:30 p.m. Guests can enjoy baby-back ribs, chicken wings, bratwurst, corn on the cob, potato salad and many desserts. 

Live entertainment and a great view of the St. Charles fireworks display also is provided. Reservations are available by calling the hotel at 630-584-2100. 

4. restaurant in St. Charles will host a Pre-'83 Fourth of July car show. Registration for those entering a pre-1983 American-made vehicle runs from 8 a.m. to noon. Trophies will be awarded at 3 p.m.

5. The will be participating in the Illinois Department of Transportation's Click-it-or-Ticket and You Drink, You Drive, You Lose programs through July 4. Avoiding a ticket (or worse) is easy if all car passengers are wearing a seat-belt and a designated driver is at the wheel.
