Geneva Agency Touts Fox Valley Marathon Charity Partner Program

DayOneNetwork raising donations, awareness about developmental delays and disabilities through the Sept. 16 marathon.

DayOneNetwork in Geneva is again involved with the Advocate Dreyer Fox Valley Marathon, and hopes to register 40 runners through the Charity Partner Program, which gives runners a break in the registration fee if they contribute $100 to a nonprofit of their choice.

The 2012 Advocate Dreyer Fox Valley Marathon steps off at 7 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, in downtown St. Charles. The race is in its third year, and this is the second year DayOneNetwork has participated in the Charity Partner Program, DayOneNetwork said in a release.

DayOneNetwork wants to register 40 runners, which is the maximum for each organization participating in the Charity Partner Program, which gives nonprofits an opportunity to get the word out about their organizations even as they raise money for their programs and services.

“The Charity Partner Program is a great way to help out some of your neighbors in need, and to be a part of the Fox Valley Marathon races” said race director Dave Sheble.

As the marathon races “close,” runners who seek to participate are directed to register through the nonprofit of their choice, according to the release. Participants contribute $100 to a charity partner and get half off the race registration fee.

“It's fast, it's simple, it's tax deductible, and it's a great way to make your race even more meaningful,” Sheble said.

“It’s an honor for DayOneNetwork to be part of the Fox Valley Marathon Charity Partner Program, again,” said Joyce Helander, DayOneNetwork executive director. “We appreciate the opportunity to get our name out there and spread the word about the work we do on behalf of children and adults with developmental delays and disabilities.”

This year, race organizers expect nearly 3,000 runners representing the Fox Valley, elsewhere in the United States, as well as Canada, Australia, Brazil and Europe. Hundreds of kids are expected to participate in the CASA Kane County Fox Valley Kids Marathon that weekend, too.
