Snow Joins Forecast for Bitter Cold in St. Charles

Friday morning’s dangerously cold wind chills will give way to gusty winds and 1 to 3 inches of snow in St. Charles, forecasters say.

As if the dangerously bitter cold weren’t enough, drivers today will have to deal with 1 to 3 inches of snow amid gusty winds that could cause drifting and limit visibility, according to a National Weather Service winter weather advisory.

The advisory kicks in at 8 a.m., about two hours before the National Weather Service is expected to allow it’s wind chill advisory — warning of wind chills as low as -30 degrees — to expire at 10 a.m.. Both advisories are for Kane and DuPage counties. The winter weather advisory for snow and blowing snow does not expire until 6 a.m. Saturday.

Dress warmly, including hats and gloves — wind chills this low can cause frostbite and hypothermia within a matter of minute, the agency says. And be sure to bring your pets inside.

Drivers should be prepared for hazardous conditions, particularly in the afternoon and evening.
