State GOP Taps St. Charles Woman for Honors

Illinois Lincoln Excellence in Public Service Series event next week to honor eight "up-and-coming Republican women in Illinois."

Mary Lynn Swanson of St. Charles is among eight “up-and-coming Republican women in Illinois” who will be recognized during the Illinois Lincoln Excellence in Public Service Series event next week.

According to a release from the Lincoln Series, Illinois Republican Party Vice Chairwoman Carol Smith Donovan will deliver the keynote address during the event, which is scheduled from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at Bloomingdale Golf Club, 181 Glen Ellyn Road, Bloomingdale.

The Illinois Lincoln Excellence in Public Service Series is a leadership program that trains and mentors up-and-coming Republican women in Illinois, the organization’s release states. For the past nine months eight women selected statewide have participated in the 2012 program.

These women will be graduating and joining a network of more than 190 women who have participated in the Illinois Lincoln Series program, the release states. Graduates have gone on to achieve elected office, public service careers at all levels of government and campaign management positions.

This Lincoln Series event is considered an opportunity to get to know some of the rising stars of the Republican Party, and how women will continue to play a role in the future of the GOP, the release states.

In addition to Swanson, the release identifies the 2012 Lincoln Series fellows as Cathryn Biga of Chicago, Jennifer Baustian of North Aurora, Carol Hornickle of Peoria, Melinda Hult of Belleville, Nicole Martin of La Grange, Kathleen Ralston of Chicago, and Amanda Shoemaker of Rushville.
