What Are You Doing During the Memorial Day Weekend?

Memorials, a parade and a fund-raising run fill Memorial Day.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend. Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for when you're done with work and ready to get out. Check our picks for the activities to hit.

1. MAIN STREET MILE
Where/When: 7:30 a.m. Monday at , 1 E. Main St., St. Charles.
Why Go: The Foot Mechanics Memorial Day mile race raises  for Salute, Inc. (saluteinc.org), which supports military service members and their families, and Save-A-Vet.org, which rescues military service dogs.
Pricing: $30, $20 for 10 and under.

2. IN LOVE WITH THE (IRISH) DANCE
Where/When: 7:30 p.m. Saturday at , 105 E. Main St., St. Charles.
Why Go: It features world-class dancers and some of Ireland's most gifted traditional musicians. The sounds of brilliant vocalists, whistles, uillean pipes, accordion, banjo and guitars provide the backdrop.
Pricing: $19, $29, $39.

3. DECIBEL HOGG WITH THE NOUNS
Where/When: 9 p.m. Saturday at , 3341 W. Main St., St. Charles.
Why Go: The local band headlines the show.
Pricing: No cover.

4. EARLY MORNING MEMORIAL DAY SALUTES
Where/When: 6:10 a.m. Monday beginning at North Bennett Street and Woodward Avenue, Geneva
Why Go: Beginning at the eastside cemetery on Route 25; proceeding to the bridge on Route 38 for a ceremony to honor those who died at sea; followed by the Kane County Veterans Memorial, off Route 31 and Third Street; and concluding at the memorial at the Geneva Township building in Wheeler Park, off Stevens and Third Streets.
Pricing: Free.

5. MEMORIAL DAY PARADE
Where/When: 10 a.m. Monday at Crescent Place & South 3rd Street, Geneva
Why Go: The route begins near the train depot, proceeds north on Third Street, ending with ceremonies with music in the westside cemetery at Stevens and Third streets.
Pricing: Free.
