As another wave of dangerously cold weather sweeps the area, the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for snow and blowing snow that already has prompted a travel advisory in western Kane County.
The warning remains in effect until 1 a.m.
The National Weather Service says to expect moderate to heavy snow later Sunday with blowing snow spreading rapidly late tonight and lasting overnight. Winds of 30 to 40 mph, gusting to 50 mph, are predicted, along with accumulations of 1 to 2 inches of snow.
The winds and snow likely will produce blizzard-like conditions, making travel conditions dangerous, especially in open and rural areas.
Wind Chill Warning Begins Monday
Beginning Monday morning, the National Weather Service has issued a wind chill warning that is scheduled to remain in effect through Wednesday morning. The warning predicts wind chill values of -30 to -45 degrees.
