2 St. Charles Photographers in Fine Art Show

Local Artists Robert Rydin and John Granata will exhibit their work in the 15th annual St. Charles Fine Art Show, May 25-26.

Two local photographers will be among more than 100 artists exhibiting their work on Memorial Day Weekend when the Downtown St. Charles Partnership presents the 15th annual St. Charles Fine Art Show.

The show runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 25, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 26, and is a juried art show with artists in media from photography to jewelry, wood, and sculpture, according to a release issued this week by the Downtown St. Charles Partnership.

St. Charles Fine Art Show Artist History: Fourth year show participant

Overview: During the past five years, Rydin’s work has been featured in juried shows from Chicago One of a Kind, Hinsdale Fine Art Fare, North Shore Fine Art Show, Chicago Tribune Michigan Ave Art Show, the Long Grove Fine Art Show. This will be Rydin’s fourth year at the St. Charles Fine Art Show. Rydin combines high dynamic range and digital panoramic techniques to create stunning large panoramic images.

Overview: Granata has participated in a host of recent, juried shows from Old Town Art Fair and Lakeview East Festival in Chicago to Buffalo Grove Invitational Art Festival, the Geneva Art Fair, and the Promenade of Art in Arlington Heights. Granata’s work specializes in alternative photographic printing inspired by historic photographic processes. Then, images are transferred onto stainless steel, glass, or printed on a variety of unique papers. “My best work comes from unintentional discoveries that catch my interest. My images are postcards from a personal journey of how I see the world around me,” Granata said. 

Show Overview

The 15th annual St. Charles Fine Art Show, presented by AAA Insurance, features live musical entertainment throughout the weekend, sponsored by the , artist demonstrations, Art Talk, and a Family Photo Booth.

All Fine Art Show activities are free to the public and people of all ages are encouraged to attend.

The Feature Tent, sponsored by , is “The Art of Weaving” and will feature a loom, knitting machine, basket-making and more by artists with , St. Charles.

The Fine Art Show is held on Riverside Avenue, formerly 1st Avenue, between Main Street/Route 64 and Illinois Avenue in St. Charles. The event is held rain or shine. Admission is free with ample free parking in multiple city lots. For more information, please visit www.stcharlesfineartshow.com.
