Art Talks Are New at St. Charles Fine Art Show

More than 110 artists, Downtown Historic Trolley rides and live musical entertainment are on tap for annual Memorial Day weekend fest.

So, you’re wondering, what’s new this year during the Downtown St. Charles Partnership’s 15th annual St. Charles Fine Art Show?

Well, the Art Talks are one new feature of the annual Memorial Day weekend event. Visitors will be able to listen as artists discuss their inspiration for a piece, for example, or hear artists discuss the differences between a fine craft and a fine art.

The 15th annual St. Charles Fine Art Show runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2013. The juried show will feature more than 110 artists in various mediums, as well as artist demonstrations. Here’s the schedule for the Art Talks:

Saturday, May 25

11 a.m.: Discover the techniques of an artist in one of the various mediums that is displayed throughout the show.

2 p.m.: Join a panel of artists, from this year’s show, as they discuss the similarities and differences between Fine Craft and Fine Art. 

Sunday, May 26

11 a.m.: Guy Bellaver, the creator of the Indian sculpture, Ekwabet, will discuss his inspiration and process in creating the Reflections project, the Max & Doris Hunt Sculpture project.

2 p.m.: The discussion of Fine Craft and Fine Art continues with a new and fresh artist panel from the St. Charles Fine Art Show.

The 15th annual St. Charles Fine Art Show also will feature a family photo booth, live musical entertainment, a historic downtown trolley tour, artist demonstrations, and the “Art of Weaving” Feature Tent. All St. Charles Fine Art Show activities are free to the public and people of all ages are encouraged to attend. 

The St. Charles Fine Art Show is held, rain or shine, on Riverside Avenue between Main Street/Route 64 and Illinois Avenue in downtown St. Charles. Admission is free, with ample free parking in multiple city lots. For more information, please visit www.stcharlesfineartshow.com.
