St. Charles Jazz Weekend to Continue Without Marsalis

Live jazz to be featured in five venues Sept. 20 through Sept. 23 in downtown St. Charles.

The planned performance of legendary jazz saxophonist Branford Marsalis and his quartet on Sept. 22 has been cancelled, but St. Charles Jazz Weekend will continue.

St. Charles Patch received an email on Thursday from Wilkins Management, stating that, "the Branford Marsalis performance on September 22 has unfortunately been cancelled due to the promoter’s loss of sponsorship."

The Downtown St. Charles Partnership on Thursday afternoon confirmed that Oshows cancelled the performance, which was scheduled at the .

Marsalis had been touted as the weekend's featured performer.

St. Charles Jazz Weekend will feature five venues starting Thursday, Sept. 20, and runs through Sunday, Sept. 23, according to the release. Bistro One West, McNally’s Traditional Irish Pub, River Rockhouse, Hotel Baker’s Rox City Grill, and the Arcada Theatre each will host live jazz music, complementary for in-house guests.

“The purpose of Jazz Weekend is to give people the opportunity to enjoy great jazz music at a host of dining options and expose people to the charm of Downtown St. Charles,” Lynne Schwartz, executive director of the Downtown St. Charles Partnership, said earlier this month.
