The neXt gallery at Charlie’s is hosting a closing reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, after which the gallery will close. The neXt gallery at Charlie’s is at 3800 E. Main St. — in the Charlestowne Mall.
Wine, punch, and seasonal beverages/snacks such as hot mulled cider and pumpkin scones will be served. Patrons can browse the gallery for gifts for family, friends, to donate — or just to treat themselves. If you dropped by the gallery before and had your eye on one of the fantastic pieces there — now’s the time to come back for it. And if you haven’t been there yet, you really have to make the trip. The neXt gallery at Charlie’s has gotten rave reviews from the hundreds of people who have come through it since the opening on Sept. 22 — everyone has been blown away by how the gallery has transformed this vacant retail space!
And, if you’re feeling festive, wear a mask to the Reception. We’ll reward the first 50 people wearing a mask across the threshold with a coupon for free popcorn from Classic Cinemas.
The neXt gallery at Charlie’s will be closing after the reception.
This week, the gallery will be open from:
- Noon to 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012;
- Noon to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2012;
- And noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012.
These three days will be the last chance to enjoy the gallery and take home a piece of art from this wonderful, eclectic collection. Buy from these local and regional artists and help this great pop-up gallery program continue to grow.
The gallery address is 3800 E. Main St., in the Charlestowne Mall.
Come and see how the neXt gallery volunteer curators have “repurposed” this former retail space that has been vacant for over 5 years into a fantastic gallery and art show/sale. The gallery web site is www.nextgallerystcharles.org, and the phone number is 630-429-0973. The St Charles Arts Council and the neXt gallery committee would like to extend their thanks to the Charlestowne Mall who are partnering in this location with the arts council, Classic Cinemas, J.L. Wagner Plumbing, and N. Henry and Sons who have donated items for the gallery.
The neXt gallery is a “Pop Up” gallery, which, if you haven’t heard of the idea before, is typically an empty storefront/office building that is transformed into a temporary art gallery for a short period of time. The neXt gallery program is an initiative of the St. Charles Arts Council designed to create energy, excitement, and opportunities for artists – as pop up galleries have done in Chicago’s Loop and cities around the world – and to provide opportunities for artists to showcase and be compensated for their talent.
The Arts Council encourages building owners, volunteers, art supporters, and art collectors to get involved in this program to support the arts and St. Charles, and encourages artists to contact the SCAC to learn about neXt gallery opportunities. Contact the council at 630.443.3794 or info@StCharlesArtsCouncil.org.
