New theatre opens with "Equus"

Peter Shaffer's Tony-Award winner for Best Play in 1975, Equus, is the first show of the new Vero Voce Theatre in St. Charles.  This harrowing psychological mystery concerning the blinding of six horses by a young man is presented by Prufrock Productions which has made Vero Voce its home.  Offering an alternative to standard theatre fare by presenting edgier works, Prufrock Productions has chosen Shaffer's controversial play to open the new theatre.  A big success on Broadway back in the 70s, interest in the show saw a resurgance recently when it was revived with Daniel Radcliffe of Harry Potter fame in 2008.  Much press was generated when the 17-year-old actor committed to the show, which calls for him to be naked on stage.  Prufrock Productions remains true to the show as written, and contains adult content, adult language and nudity.

There are only 4 performances left:  Aug 30, 31 and Sept 1 1 at 8pm, and a Sinday matinee at 3pm on Sept 2.

Tickets are:  $20 for general admission, $15 for students and seniors.  There is a special $10 admission for those who present a head shot and resume on Aug 30 only.
