28th annual fall celebration runs through Sunday.
Traffic surged in downtown St. Charles on Friday as the city opened the 28th edition of the fall celebration known around the region and across the nation as Scarecrow Fest.
The festival opened beneath sunny skies, comfortable Scarecrow Fest Visitors Descend Upon St. Charles and a pleasant breeze. In recent years, the festival has been drawing 150,000 visitors.
