Residents with backyard pools should be safely draining them for the season. The City of St. Charles has some guidelines you can follow to help ease toxic chemicals draining into the ground; keep reading to find out more.

2. The St. Charles East Boys Varsity Soccer Invitational continues today with games at 5 and 7 p.m. at soccer fields throughout . This year marks the 18th annual Soccer Invitational and teams from Burlington Central, Elgin, Glenbard North, Marmion Academy, Plainfield Central, Plainfield South, St. Francis in Wheaton, will participate.

3. The is asking residents to properly dispose of their pool water. Pool water contains high levels of chemicals which are toxic to plants and animals.

The Peace Bell was a gift to the United States by the United Nations Association of Japan and contains coins donated by children from all continents. It is a reminder of the human cost of war. White Peace Doves are also worn on clothing to commemorate the day.
