Deadline Extended for St. Patrick’s Parade in St. Charles

The Downtown St. Charles Partnership announced Tuesday that it has extended the entry deadline to Thursday, Feb. 28, due to increasing interest in the St. Patrick’s Parade, which steps off at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 16, on Main Street, from 6th Street to 4th Avenue.

The festivities also will feature a Deck Out Your Lucky Dog contest and a Dance Show at the .

The deadline was extended to allow people more time to submit the necessary information.

The Downtown St. Charles Partnership is seeking entries from businesses, politicians, and nonprofit organizations. Organizations and businesses wanting to participate must complete an entry form, obtain a certificate of insurance, sign off on the rules and regulations, and return the documents along with the appropriate entrance fee, if required, to the Downtown St. Charles Partnership office no later than the extended deadline of Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013. According to the release, the fee is $250 for business and political entries, $125 for Downtown St. Charles Partnership business members, and no-charge for nonprofit entries. Current parade sponsors include: McNallys Irish Pub, the city of St. Charles, Advanced Disposal, Onesti Entertainment; Kane County Chronicle; Delnor Express Care; St. Charles Veterinary Clinic; Valley Ambulatory Surgery Center; AHC Advisors and Doc Morgan Inc.

Plans for this year’s St. Patrick’s Parade features bands, Irish dancers, authentic Irish music, floats, school groups, preschools, service clubs, and a variety of floats.

The parade has drawn crowds of as many as 15,000 people from around the area. In addition to the parade, the St. Charles Veterinary Clinic is sponsoring a Deck out Your Lucky Dog contest, and decorated dogs will be invited to walk in the parade. The Arcada Theatre will host a Dance Show featuring area dance troupes beginning at 10 a.m.
