New Face at the St. Charles Convention and Visitors Bureau

Sara Rose Taylor is welcomed aboard as the new marketing manager and Scarecrow Fest liaison, even as bureau embarks on evaluation of 2012 event, planning for 2013.

The Greater St. Charles Convention and Visitors Bureau has welcomed Sara Rose Taylor as the new marketing manager/Scarecrow Fest liaison, effective Oct. 1, 2012.

Formerly the director of communications for an integrated marketing agency in Chicago, Taylor was instrumental in the acquisition and maintenance of several large accounts while acting as the proprietary event coordinator, according to a release the bureau issued Tuesday afternoon. 

“Coupled with her bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Illinois' College of Media, Sara's agency experience, editorial background  and knowledge of social media provide a solid foundation that will serve the bureau’s marketing mission well,” Amy Egolf, executive director of Greater St. Charles Convention and Visitors Bureau, said in the release. “We are pleased to have her on our team and are eager to utilize her skill sets, which are certain to be a boon to the local tourism industry.”

Taylor is enthusiastic about immersing herself in the greater St. Charles tourism industry, the bureau’s release states. Taylor’s responsibilities include production coordination of the annual visitors guide and FACES card, online communication maintenance, website management, media correspondence and social media development.

Bureau to Evaluate Fest

She will serve as in-house liaison for Scarecrow Fest 2013 and will incorporate new components to the annual event designed to boost visitor attendance and enhance local involvement. Taylor plans to introduce new marketing initiatives that will build upon existing bureau marketing strategies.

In a separate email, Egolf wrote that the Greater St. Charles Convention and Visitors Bureau is still in the process of gauging the success of this year’s fest and has not begun laying out strategy for next year. That process, she wrote, will consider both the positive and negative feedback the bureau has received about this year’s event.

“... We are already talking about plans for 2013,” Egolf wrote, although the bureau does not have the financials or intercept survey date from this year’s event.

“At our request, the Downtown (St. Charles) Partnership is surveying downtown businesses for input about this year’s event,” she wrote. “”Our Board of Directors is having its regular quarterly meeting this Thursday — and — we are extending same to review ‘the good, the bad, and the ugly’ about this year’s event following our traditional meeting agenda. … rest assured, we are taking all of the negative — as well as the positive feedback — into consideration as we look toward a great 2013, October 11-13.”

New homeowners in the city of St. Charles, Taylor and her husband, Brandon, moved from Chicago in September 2012.
