Partnership Director: St. Charles Added 25 New Businesses Last Year

Growth is an indication that investment in city development is "paying off," says Jennifer Faivre of the Downtown St. Charles Partnership.

Twenty-five new businesses opened up in in 2011, according the head of the city's downtown business organization.

Six years ago, the 1st Street development project launched and has since added retail and office space, as well as housing to St. Charles, said Jennifer Faivre, executive director of the Downtown St. Charles Partnership, in a recent YouTube video.

The growth in new business is "an indication that this investment (1st Street) is paying off," Faivre said.

"These improvements projects keep our pride of place intact and help keep our downtown a unique destination," she said.

In the video, Faivre extolled the business community and efforts of the partnership. She said the organization's mission is to "to enhance the economic viability and preserve the beauty and character of downtown St. Charles."

Faivre also cited the St. Charles as the best place to raise a family by magazine.

"I couldn't agree more," she said.
