Patch Readers Pick: The Thirsty Fox Pub for 'Best Burger'

In St. Charles Patch’s first-ever “Best of St. Charles” series, I’ve received so much positive feedback in the comments, Facebook posts and Tweets. I can’t thank you all enough for the response.

But, on to the good stuff—and that would be the result of the “” contest.

I think a little disclaimer might be in order before we begin.

This simply was an unscientific comment poll (as they all will be in the "Best of St. Charles" run) and doesn’t reflect any particular endorsement on the part of St. Charles Patch or me. I’ve had a meal in just about every restaurant, establishment and watering hole in St. Charles and I can honestly say I’ve never been disappointed. I love the food in this city.

It seems that a few of our readers, though, had a particular favorite place to stop for a burger. And that place, and the winner for this past week, was .

Located on East Main Street, about a block from the river, the Thirsty Fox surprisingly robust menu for a smaller pub.

The fare includes the Lil Fox and Hungry Fox homemade burgers, as well as bacon and cheese, pastrami and pulled-pork sliders.

While not a burger, The Dolly Parton sandwich features “plump, juicy, jumbo chicken breast topped with crisp bacon,” cheddar cheese and an assortment of toppings. Might be worth a try, even if you’re not a country music fan.
