The St. Charles Chamber of Commerce will be joined by city officials and East Side businesses on Thursday afternoon to celebrate the approaching end of the East Main Street/Route 64 reconstruction project, the chamber said on its website.
The project’s western end — from 7th Avenue to Kirk Road recently reopened all lanes to traffic after the project was declared substantially complete in recent weeks.
The project has been slowing traffic and increasing congestions on the East Side for the past two years.
The chamber’s website states that the ribbon-cutting is slated from 4:30 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at Foxboro Plaza, 2400 E. Main St.
The eastern end of the East Main/Route 64 project — from 38th Avenue to Route 59 — is scheduled to be substantially complete in early October. The chamber’s website also note the chamber will hold a ribbon-cutting for that part of the project in late October.
