Sweet Natalie's Dec. 10 Opening Adds to Geneva's Reputation as a Confection Destination

A "farmers market for the sweet tooth," the new shop combines tastes and talents from eight different area bakers and adds to Geneva's growing reputation as a Mecca for people with a sweet tooth.

A collection of confectionary craftsmen will showcase their wares in a new venture in downtown Geneva beginning the week of Dec. 10. Sweet Natalie’s will be the umbrella operation for eight separate bakeries all selling their tasty treats from the same location.

The new store continues to build on Geneva's growing reputation as a destination for people who have a taste for something sweet, joining the recently-expanded All Chocolate Kitchen, Graham's Chocolates, 318 Coffeehouse, The Latest Crave, The Little Traveler, Preservation Bread & Wine, Great Harvest Bread Co., Divine Desserts, Heidi's Cake & Pastry on the East Side and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in the Commons, among others.

Sweet Natalie's 1,240-square-foot space will feature a kitchen and storefront filled with cases of delectable treats created by the different bakers involved in Sweet Natalie’s.

Ilene Keivel of One Smart Cookie Chicago described the business model as a farmers market for the sweet tooth.

Along with Keivel’s cookie creations, other businesses joining Sweet Natalie’s are:

  • Auntie Debbie’s Delites & More — Bakers of “waist-friendly” delights
  • Red Wall Kitchen — A wheat, egg and dairy free bakery
  • A Bite of Heaven — Makers of cheesecakes and brownies
  • Piece of Cake — Custom Cakes by Mark (featured on the Food Network)
  • The Sweet Escape — Miniature desserts
  • Mamma D’s — Tiramisu
  • The Sweet Rhino — Cupcakes and cinnamon rolls

In addition to selling the tasty wares of the different bakers under the Sweet Natalie’s umbrella, Keivel plans on making the shop’s commercial kitchen available to other area home-based bakers.

“We wanted to share our space with other people so they can have the chance to develop their passion for baking,” she said.

Although the shop will not officially be open during the Geneva Christmas Walk, Keivel said they will be selling some tasty treats to the plethora of holiday shoppers. The annual Christmas Walk is set for Dec. 7-8.

Sweet Natalie’s is located in the lower level of Geneva’s venerable Charles B. Wells House, 228 S. Third St.
