You shouldn’t start your day without a good meal. And St. Charles has no shortage of places to get such a meal.

Last week, we asked who offered your . We’ll post the results from that on Tuesday. Now, we want to know your favorite place for breakfast.

Now, keep in mind, when we say breakfast, we mean a place where you can sit down and have a full meal or draw from a selection of breakfast foods. We’ll have a future article asking about your favorite pastries or bakery soon enough.

—A perennial favorite in the area. Headquartered in St. Charles, Colonial has two locations here with the newest location on Randall Road. Breakfast is served all day.

—The cafe side to this independent bookstore features a morning menu with a quiche of the day and the Sunday brunch offers a number of egg specialties and French toasts.

—As a newer option in St. Charles, this restaurant on Main Street offers a sampling of Benedicts and crepes, as well as more traditional fare for the breakfast goer.

—This past year, Gabby’s pancakes were featured on Chicago's Best. Also, take a look at the “Off the Char Broiler” options if you’re looking for some serious morning protein.

—Check out this corner restaurant’s list of omelets and frittatas. As with everything they do, their breakfast items are made from organic and locally-grown ingredients. Don’t forget to check out the selection of healthy juices when you stop by.

—In the mood for something spicy? Try one of Jalapeno Grille’s breakfast plates or, if you need something quick, a breakfast burrito.

—This Greek diner features a breakfast menu that's a long-time favorite of many. Its large green sign is easily recognizable on East Main Street.
