Successful Traffic Safety Campaign

West Chicago, Illinois: March 10, 2014 - The West Chicago Police Department Traffic Safety Unit has announced that the traffic enforcement campaign it conducted on Illinois Route 38 on March 8, 2014 was a success. According to the Department, officers were out in force checking for child safety seat and occupant restraint compliance, DUI drivers, aggressive driving, excessive speed and distracted driving within the City. By the end of the day, 50 traffic citations and 28 written warnings were issued including (but not limited to); 23 citations and 6 warnings for excessive speed, 10 citations and 5 warnings for seat belt and/or child restraint violations, 3 arrests of drivers with no valid driver's licenses and others. The number of warnings indicates the department's commitment to educating the motoring public as well as enforcement. "We are trying to reduce traffic related injuries and deaths this year with the use of high visibility, frequent and safety targeted patrols," said Sgt. Spencer Kroning. "All the members of the West Chicago Police Department encourage you to live, work play and drive safely." Future campaigns are scheduled for later this spring as follows: * April 25th (Arbor Day) - Arbor Avenue * May 9th - Illinois Route 59 * June 4th - Illinois Route 64
