5 Things: Family Day, Munger Road Clothing Drive and More

Also, two Board of Education committees meet tonight.

Here are five things going on for Sept. 26:

1. Fun Fact: Family Day was started on Sept. 26, 2001 by The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University. This holiday encourages parents to "eat dinner with your children" because the frequent family sit-down encourages conversation, which can be an effective way to keep kids free from drug abuse.

2. Three  for improvements this week and are scheduled to reopen on Oct. 4. The Ambrose Lot on the southwest corner of Route 64 and Route 31, the River Plaza Lot on the west side of Route 31 between Cedar and State Streets and two square gravel areas adjacent to North Riverside Avenue, will be patched and resurfaced.

3. District 303's Board of Education meets at 6 p.m. for a Community Relations meeting. Items for discussion include; a District 303 Performance Scorecard, revisiting summit 303 and the attendance of high school students at board/committee meetings. A copy of the meeting agenda can be found here

A Policy Committee meeting will start before the Community Relations Meeting at 5 p.m. Click here to view the meeting agenda. 

Both meetings will take place at the district's , 201 S. 7th St. 

4. The Village of Campton Hills is inviting local residents, business owners, community leaders, and other stakeholders to attend a  aiming to update the village's Comprehensive Plan. The meeting will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Wasco Elementary School, 4N782 School Street, Campton Hills. 

The Comprehensive Plan will help guide land use, community character, natural resources, open spaces, housing, transportation and economic development. Registration for the event will begin at 6:00 p.m. Please RSVP by calling the village hall at (630) 584-5700 or emailing RSVP@villageofcamptonhills.org.

5. The City of St. Charles and Charlestowne 18 Movie Theaters will hold a  in conjunction with the release and showing of the movie . Drop-off boxes in the  and at the theaters’ main lobby service desk will collect donations of new and gently worn winter clothing for children and adults through Oct. 10.

All donations will benefit the Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul charities.
