5 Things You Should Know for Monday, June 6

Here are today's must-know items about happenings in St. Charles.

1. Join  for its eighth annual weekly summer Cruise Night from 5:30 to 9 p.m. every Monday night through Sept. 26. Tonight will be the first event of the season and all makes and models of vehicles are welcome.

2. Five million people worldwide suffer from the disease Pulmonary Fibrosis. While the cause can be unknown, it is in some cases a debilitating lung disease plaguing those affected with shortness of breath, chronic dry cough, and chest pain. In observance of Pulmonary Fibrosis Day, is donating 20 percent of today's sales to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. Funds will be used to conduct research, provide advocacy, and educate the public.

3. The city of St. Charles will host its meeting beginning at 7 p.m. in the . This meeting is open to the public and provides a forum for citizens to comment at the end of the session. 

4. The Adler Planetarium in Chicago is hosting a Free Admission Day. General admission is free and discounts are available on shows and paid exhibits. Adler was built in 1930 and was the first planetarium built in the United States. It's home to one of the most important collections of antique astronomical instruments and has three full-size theatres dedicated to the education and understanding of astronomy.

5. Raft Night at , originally scheduled for 6:30 p.m., has been canceled due to the pool's delayed opening. Swanson Pool will open for the season on June 11. Season pass holders may use the St. Charles Park District's new Otter Cove Aquatic Park until the Swanson Pool reopens.
