Here are today's 5 must-know items about happenings in St. Charles.

1. will open a new today as part of its neXt gallery program designed to create opportunities for area artists. The first pop-up gallery will be presented at the Shelby building at 210 S. Fifth St., Suite 100 in St. Charles.

2. The St. Charles North High School Music Department will present its 7 p.m., May 27 at the Q Center, 1405 N. Fifth Ave. in St. Charles. The event will feature three instrumental jazz groups, including Jazz Workshop, one of 15 jazz bands chosen to perform at the 16th annual Essentially Ellington Jazz Festival and Competition in New York City.

5. The Mid-West Cup Soccer Tournament begins today, hosted by the Campton United Soccer Club, in cooperation with the St. Charles Park District. All participants must check in between 2 and 10 p.m., in the Campton United indoor facility.
