A Bird Walk and More: 5 Things You Should Know for Wednesday, July 13

You can see an animated comedy for $1, catch a free concert in Geneva, register for a ping-pong tournament or attend a meeting on trees in St. Charles.

Enjoy the best of everything St. Charles has to offer with inexpensive movie seats and an evening of bird-watching. You can also head to Geneva tonight for a free concert. 

Here are our 5 favorite things you should know about today:

1. Youths ages 11 to 19 should register today for a  at the STC Underground. The tournament starts Thursday at 3 p.m.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three competitors and the participation fee is $5 a person.

2. Join Kane County Audubon for a bird walk at 6 p.m. in . Participants can bring a sack dinner to eat with other members at 5:30 p.m. Beginners are welcome.

3. The City of St. Charles Tree Commission meets at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Committee room at . The Tree Commission consists of volunteers appointed by the and City Council members. They discuss the management of city-owned trees, trimming and public education on tree diseases and pests.

4. The band Final Say will perform a at 7 p.m. in Geneva's Island Park. Come out to hear Final Say play covers of many favorite songs from the past five decades. 

Bring a blanket or chairs and share night of energetic live music on the lawn with family and friends. 

5. Watch Shrek and friends in Shrek, Forever After for only $1 at movie theatres. In this animated comedy, Rumpelstiltskin tricks Shrek into being erased from existence. Everything then turns everything upside down in an alternate time-line where Rumpel rules the world.

Doors open at 9 a.m. and the movie starts at 10 a.m.
