Dinner, Darts and Da Cubs: 5 Things You Should Know for Monday, Aug. 8

Plus, the District 303 board of education meets tonight to discuss the future of the Little Woods Facility.

Tonight, you could partake in a five-course meal with Napa Valley wine at the Pheasant Run Resort or play a game of darts with an Italian beef sandwich and a beer in Geneva.

Here are five things going on today:

1. Harvest Restaurant at the serves world-class food, directed by executive chef Josef Yurisich. You can go there tonight for a Harvest Wine Dinner with the Hess Collection of wines from Napa Valley, CA.

This food and wine showcase is $99 a person, gratuity and tax not included. The price includes a five-course meal, specially prepared by Chef Yurisich to complement the Hess Wine Collection. 

2. District 303's Board of Education meets at 7 p.m. inside the administration center, 201 S. 7th St. Tonight's meeting will include discussions on budgetary issues and the transfer of the to the City of St. Charles.

3. The Planning and Development Committee of the City of St. Charles meets at 7 p.m. in . All members of the City Council also serve on this committee.

Topics of discussion could include zoning, annexation, boundary lines, downtown development and code enforcement. A copy of the meeting agenda is usually found the Friday before each meeting at http://www.stcharlesil.gov/meetings/index.asp

4.  from 7 to 11 p.m. Players of all skill levels are invited to participate. Specials are available on Miller beer bottles and Cabooses' Italian beef sandwiches. 

5. On this day in 1988, the Chicago Cubs played their first night game at Wrigley Field against the Philadelphia Phillies. Unfortunately, it was rained out after only three and a half innings. 

The Cubs took the field the next night and played their first official night game against the New York Mets, beating them 6 to 4.
