Downtown Store to Host Santa for Kids at Lazarus House

The jolly old elf will also be at HD Coins and Cards this weekend for all the good little boys and girls. Store owner Rob Anderson says he wants to encourage donations to the non-profit shelter.

A downtown store that offers toys and collectibles will have a few more treats for children this weekend.

 will host Santa for all the good little boys from noon to 4 p.m. on Dec. 3. The store also is inviting the children staying at the non-profit shelter Lazarus House for their own time with old St. Nick on Christmas Eve.

Rob Anderson of HD Coins and Cards said he hopes to encourage people to donate to the shelter.

“It’s a great organization. The kids, they need to get something a little bit special," Anderson said.

In November, the alerted newsletter subscribers of the increase in the number of children staying there. Executive Director Liz Eakins told St. Charles Patch funds that help are drying up.

The Christmas Eve appearance is only for those children at Lazarus, Anderson said. The public is invited to the Dec. 3 event.
