Harry Potter and More: 5 Things You Should Know for Thursday, July 14

From Harry Potter films to a breast cancer fundraiser, you'll find many events to attend in St. Charles today.

A school board meeting and a free concert in the park are just two events you may want to check out today.

Here are our 5 favorite things going on in St. Charles:

1. A breast cancer research fundraiser titled , will be at  from 5 to 7 p.m. The event will feature raffles, refreshments, a silent auction and more.

Pink Night is part of the Invincibelle Spirit Hydrangea Campaign to raise $1 million for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Ten percent from the sale of plants and 25 percent from pink-plant sales will be donated to BCRF, the Delnor Center for Breast Health and LivingWell Cancer Resource Center. Registration is not required. 

2. St. Charles Park District's  will continue with a free performance by On The House at 7 p.m. in .

On The House plays a blend of acoustic rock and country music cover songs, giving their music style with an edge. Families are welcome to bring blankets and chairs for a picnic on the lawn. Local vendors will also be selling food and beverages. 

3. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows—Part 1 will be playing at 9 p.m. at . Following Part 1 will be a midnight screening of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows—Part 2. Part 2 will be shown in 3D with a limited number of Harry Potter 3D glasses available.

Tickets for Part 1 are $5 while tickets for Part 2 are available at regular theatre ticket pricing. 

4. The  will show Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows—Part 1 at 5 p.m. Pizza, popcorn, and lemonade will be served.

This event is for students who have completed grades 3 through 12 and adults. Parental permission is required, and you must register by noon. Click here for more information. 

5. St. Charles School District 303's Community Relations Board meets at 6 p.m. in the , 201 S. 7th St.

The Community Relations Board brings an open line of communication to the public from the school board. Input meant to enhance the communications process between the board and the public is welcome from all members of the St. Charles learning community.
