Kane County Fair and Festival, American Idol and More: 5 Things You Should Know for Thursday, July 21

A foot odor problem could win somebody $200 at the Kane County Fair and Festival today. Read on to find out how.

Another American Idol contestant comes to St. Charles tonight with a free concert in Lincoln Park. A movie will be shown for free in Geneva and many activities are available at the Kane County Fair and Festival.

1. Here are some of today's events at the Kane County Fair and Festival:

  • The Odor Eaters Rotten Sneaker Contest starts at 3 p.m. The contestant with the stinkiest shoes will win $200 along with a Golden Sneaker award and a basket of Odor Eaters products.
  • Live music starts on the at 6 p.m. with the Lonesome Stranglers. Hillbilly Rockstarz will follow at 8 p.m.
  • The starts at 7 p.m.;  admission is $10.

2. Former American Idol contestant in Lincoln Park. Glocksen was the ninth place finalist in season 6 of American Idol.

This event is part of the St. Charles Park District's Concert in the Park series. Admission is free and the concert is open to all ages. 

3. Baker Memorial United Methodist Church will host a choral concert featuring area high school students starting at 7 p.m. The  presents a variety of musical styles in small ensembles, a mass choir and soloist forms.

4. Make a donation to Lazarus House by dining at the RendezVu restaurant in Batavia. will give a portion of lunch and dinner sales to one of Kane County's most important social services. 

provides housing, emergency shelter, and outreach programs for families and children from St. Charles, Geneva, Batavia and rural western Kane County. 

5. Enjoy a free outdoor movie starting at dusk, or around 8:30 p.m., in Geneva's Mill Creek Community Park, off Keslinger Road and Prairie Clover Drive. Tonight's movie will be Despicable Me.  

You can come with the family for a night of outdoor fun but, don't forget a blanket and maybe a snack.
