Kane County Sees Record Low Voter Turnout in Tuesday's Election (REPORTS)

Officials report that 12.4 percent of voters visited county polls.

The biannual election on Tuesday drew a record low number of voters to polls in Kane County, according to the Daily Herald. County turnout was 12.4 percent, which is the lowest mark in at least 24 years for a nonpartisan, consolidated election, County Clerk Jack Cunningham said. A total  of 26,593 ballots were cast for the election including early voting tallies.

Cunningham called the election turnout “dismal,” according to the St. Charles Republican. He said 5,552 votes were cast early and election judges are counting absentee ballots and provisional ballots during the 16 days after the election before results are submitted to the state.
